From the Wine Cellar...The reputation of the Auberge de la Ferme is partly based on its wine cellar, where tens of thousands of bottles from every corner of France are kept to mature.
Purchased direct from producers who give priority to quality over quantity, these wines, bottled in their property or the original chateau, have been brought home to Rochehaut by the Boreux family. Then they wait in the cellar for as long as it takes to make them worthy of taking place on the Auberge de la Ferme wine list...

...to the VaultThe "Caveau de l'Auberge" was dug out in 2001, as an extension to the cellar. To get there, you just have to go down a few steps made of the local schist, after going through the cellar or down a staircase with access from the gardens. The feeling of freshness, the stone walls, the vaulted wooden ceiling and the original lighting create a very special ambiance. The walls are lined with bottles, carefully arranged in their niches. The high tables use old barrels for legs. An old press mixes its lingering scent of worn wood with the ham waiting to be carved and tasted... It's a magical place, wholly dedicated to a passion for wine. |
